Welcome to the website of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Durham, North Carolina. We are an evangelical congregation associated with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

We are located on the northwest side of the Research Triangle, between Duke University in Durham and The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. If you live in or are visiting the area, we hope you will come and worship with us.

We would love to help you learn more about our congregation--both who we are and what we believe we've been called by Christ to do in Chapel Hill and Durham. Please follow the links to find out what goes on at CGS, or use the contact page to ask questions of any of our ministers about our philosophy of ministry or our ministry programs.

AT HOME WITH THE LORD
CGS member, Pat Kiefer, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 19, after a long battle with cancer. Her memorial service was held in the sanctuary of The Church of the Good Shepherd on
Saturday, June 27

We extend our sympathies to her family: husband Dave; children Aaron, Matt, Lydia, and Hannah.

CHINA PARTNERSHIP INTEREST LUNCH: Would you like to exchange cultural insights with government officials from China over casual conversation? In preparation for our China Partners’ arrival in August, we are having a potluck dinner on Sun, July 12, at 12:30 PM in the CGS kitchen and Commons to brainstorm ideas that have worked with our Chinese friends in the past. If you have participated previously or are interested in learning more, please bring a dish and come! (SAVE THE DATE: August 16, 7 p.m. to meet our new China Partners. Please contact Bruce Wells—919-933-0162, 1bcw@bellsouth.net—if you plan to participate).

ARE YOU HANDY WITH A WRENCH? The deacons are examining the possibility of a new ministry offering car care service to single moms, widows, and others in the church. The service would include basic maintenance and an inspection of critical components of the vehicle. We are especially interested in volunteers who have some mechanic knowledge and experience, but there will also be a great need for volunteers with little or no car work experience. If you are interested in volunteering contact Daniel Carter (daniel.carter.nc@gmail.com).

MISSION DURHAM, July 13-17: CGS Middle School and High School youth, their friends, and their parents will be reaching out for a week of service and fun with organizations throughout Durham during the week and finishing with a fun day at Lake Gaston. If you are interested in joining or would like more information, please contact Nathan Scholl (nscholl@cgsonline.org).
