The College Flock are the undergraduate college students attending The Church of the Good Shepherd. Many of our students are also involved in excellent on-campus ministries, such as Reformed University Fellowship, Cru (Duke) / Cornerstone (UNC), and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. Regardless of our diversity and campus rivalry, we gather as one “student body” in Christ at CGS.

HOW TO GET TO CGS FROM CAMPUS: HOW TO GET ON THE LISTSERVE: |
|
|
The college teaching fellowship gathers on Sundays, 9:30 am – 10:30 am, and started again on August 28, 2011. GENEROUS JUSTICE It is commonly thought in secular society that the Bible is one of the greatst hindrances to doing justice. Isn't it full of regressive views? Didn't it condone slavery? Why look to the Bible for guidance on how to have a more just society? We will see it another way. We are called to a life of justice empowered by an experience of grace: a generous, gracious justice. This will be taught by Henry Kaestner, college elder and founder of Durham Cares. It is based on the book with the same name which will be availabe. |

Our vision is to:
1. Develop church - based community (relationship)
2. Develop gospel-driven servants (action)
3. Develop kingdom world and life views (knowledge)
|
|
|
What do these mean?
1. Develop church - based community (relationship)
- with older members and families through our “adopt a family” initiative for friendships and mentoring
- with other students from our rival university at Duke or UNC (seeking to love our enemies)
2. Develop gospel-driven servants (action)
- students serve now through ushering, nursery, youth, children's ministry, preparing Lord's Table, Global Outreach, music ministry, etc.
- serving the city of Durham or Chapel Hill (individually, with campus ministry, with CGS)
3. Develop kingdom world and life views (knowledge)
- College Flock Teaching fellowship: learning about the bible and God's truth from teaching resources at CGS
- to increase our understanding of our place in God's redemptive story so will learn it, love it, and live it
- examples this fall: "Generous Justice" (Henry Kaestner) , Historical biographies of famous Christians (Professor Jed Atkins from Duke)
