The Church of the Good Shepherd (CGS) defines missions as "sending out" beyond the cultural, linguistic, and/or geographical boundaries of our area (Chapel Hill & Durham) to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19, 20).
Purpose of Our Missions Policy
To affirm the biblical basis of missions and its integral place in the life of CGS.
To achieve a clear sense of direction and strategy for our distinctive role in helping fulfill the Great Commission.
To promote thoughtful evaluation of crucial issues affecting the worldwide church.
To inform church members, pastoral staff, committees or boards of the church, missionaries, and agencies of the principles by which the missions policy operates.
To define the relationship of CGS to both missionaries and the sponsoring agencies.
To ensure proper stewardship of human and financial resources.
