Who We Are ...
The Grad & Career Flock (G&C) is made
up of people in their 20s in various vocations,
graduate school or completing professional training.
The group comprises singles just out of college,
singles well established in their careers, and
married couples (a few even with kids).
We
Believe ...
Christ, in his death and resurrection, is more
than sufficient to create in us righteousness
and freedom, build us into an desirable community,
and make us joyfully competent to follow, serve
and enjoy Him.
Our theme...
COME - Whether you have been
a Christian for many years or are unsure who
Jesus is, we welcome you to come, see, listen,
ask and discuss. We believe Jesus is more than
sufficient to address our deepest desires and
needs and he directs us in glorifying God and
following him. Having experienced the grace
of God to make room for us to dwell with him,
by the death and resurrection of his Son, we
desire to do our best to invite and welcome
you into our community. John 1.29-51.
CONNECT - Christ creates a
unique and desirable community. We greatly encourage
you to connect into the community of Grad &
Career and specifically into one of our Shepherding
Groups. Shepherding Groups are places of “Gospel
Community.” We believe that Christ has
created his people to be one body and actively
calls us to be a community that is described
in all of its working by “gospel”
as an adjective. That means more than mere caring
and support. A Gospel community clings to the
cross in all it does, encourages each other
with the power of grace, and steps out together
in various acts of mission. We don’t exist
for ourselves but for Christ, for his agenda
in our lives, and for others. Acts 2.42-47;
1 Cor 1.9
COMMIT - The Church is a great
blessing. The scriptures describe it as Christ’s
Bride (Eph 5), his body (1 Cor 12), the temple
of God (2 Cor 6), his flock (Jn 10), household
of God (1 Tim 3) and communicator of God’s
wisdom (Eph 3). We believe the scriptures call
us to sensitively and winsomely encourage people
to fully connect to Christ and his Church in
a deep and sincere way by taking advantage of
membership in a local church. We won’t
“hound you” (if you ever feel the
dogs are after you, let me know), but we want
to intelligently and lovingly encourage you
to consider scripture’s call to membership
in a local church. Acts 2.47; Heb 4.1, 11-16;
10.22-24; “let us” passages.
CO-MISSION - Christ has wrought
a wonderful salvation, but he is not finished
working out all its application. We want to
see Christ use you in his Kingdom: using your
gifts to serve at CGS, reaching out in deeds
of mercy in the community, inviting people to
come, see and experience our Savior and Lord.
We believe mission is word (evangelism locally
and globally), deed (mercy and justice locally
and globally), our vocational callings, engaging
our culture and creating Christian culture.
Matt 28.16-20; Micah 6.8; 1 Tim 2.1-7; Matt
19.28 (Jesus is about the renewal, lit. “the
again genesis”).
