Durham County Habitat for Humanity

  Mission
xxx xxx Habitat for Humanity of Durham transforms lives and communities by making homeownership possible in partnership with people who care. Additional information can be obtained from their website at www.durhamhabitat.org.
  Opportunities

Habitat for Humanity of Durham seeks volunteers of any skill level who are at least sixteen years of age (for insurance reasons) to help qualified homeowners build their own homes. Since HFH of Durham has built hundreds of new homes over the last twenty years, there are likely several houses under construction at any one time which need volunteers. To volunteer for a project, or to contribute money or building materials, visit the website.

In March of 2005 The Church of the Good Shepherd had the great privilege of participating in the dedication of a new home for Katrina Allen and her family, a house that was sponsored by alms offerings from CGS members and built primarily by CGS volunteers. Currently preliminary planning is underway for another new home project.

OUR CURRENT PROJECT: April 2007 CGS began work on a house for Errika, a single mom with two young kids, Habitat for Humanity Project at 1011 Worth Street near downtown Durham. YOU can play an important role in this project; whether working, preparing food, leading praise with a guitar, or sharing a smile with a stranger, YOUR particular gifts are needed! If you wish to volunteer to help build this house, or to bring breakfast or lunch, please get in touch with Bo Harrison (see below).
