DSS (Durham County Dept of Social Services) Big Sib Mentoring Program
	Mission--To provide positive role models for young, at-risk DSS clients
xxx	xxx	Each participant in the Big Sib program is matched with an adult volunteer for at least one year. Volunteers serve as positive role models to the young clients, who are between the ages of 6-16, in a one-on-one relationship. Mentors are not only companions to the young clients but also provide exposure to cultural and social events in the community, and work to improve their overall academic performance.
