MIDLIFE REFLECTIONS ON A PRAYER WARRIOR’S JOURNEY
Psalm 119
Led by Jeff Lloyd and Chip Denton
Room L100 (Lower Level Auditorium) at 9:30

Have you ever wondered what sort of man might have written the longest psalm in the Bible? What his experiences might have been and how he learned from the mistakes he made? Why he writes about the beauty of the law and finds freedom in it? How he professed his love for the Word of God and prayed with an intense vulnerability? Why his context for living might look much like ours in the 21st century?

As we work our way through four big ideas in this this psalm (Word, Way, Law, Command), we will reflect on our own lives and build a roadmap for the journey we are on and where it might be taking us. Are we on a road to Nowhere, Elsewhere or Somewhere? Please join us for a thought provoking look at these questions and others as we view life through the eyes of one who has struggled, been redeemed and finds himself on the true road to Somewhere.

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE (If Then): Vocational Stewardship
Led by Sean Radke
Room S202 (The old “Parlor” near the Kitchen) at 9:30

How can we as Jesus' followers be a counterculture for the common good - from right where we are? In this class we will stand at the intersection of Christian faith, vocation, culture, and community outreach. To this end, we will explore the startling implications of Proverbs 11:10 - “When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices.” This means that we as Jesus' followers can seek to generously and creatively steward our vocation, influence, knowledge, experience, and all the other things that define “prosperity" in our lives. When we do this - not for our own self-enrichment but for the common good and God's glory, we encourage community transformation that leaves people "singing". This reality can strengthen us to be apart of exciting, transformational initiatives of mercy and justice in our community, so that we may be a counterculture for the common good. Whatever area of work you do - whether as a student, employee, retiree, or stay-at-home mom, this is a class for you!

  PARENTING YOUNG CHILDREN
Led by Mark South and Pat Pun
Room S203-204 (near the Kitchen) at 9:30

This course will explore Biblical methods of child-rearing from Tedd Tripp’s Shepherding a Child’s Heart. We will study the shaping influences on a young child’s life, God-ward orientation, the heart, parental authority, Biblical goals vs. unbiblical goals, communication and discipline. The study will be facilitated by Pat Pun and Mark South with video instruction and group discussion. In addition, we will have Q & A sessions with a panel of experienced CGS parents. The target age group for discussion will be from infancy to early childhood (0-5 years old). Key scriptures for the course: Deuteronomy 6, Ephesians 6:1-4, and Proverbs 23:13-19.

  YOUTH MINISTRY: THE MISSION
(For Middle School and High School—and their parents!)
Led by Nathan Scholl
Youth Room

This class is for all middle and high school students and their parents (but all are invited). Come join us as we dig into Jeremiah 29 and Romans 12 and see how they apply to our calling to be on mission for Christ. As a sweet bonus we are going to have several men and women who are doing mercy ministry in the Durham area share about their ministries and how we can get involved.
