REDEEMING ADAM: Finding Christ amidst Temptation
(For Men Only—high school & older!)
Led by Troy Albee and James Heinrich
Room S203-204 (near the Kitchen) at 9:30

This is a study for all men (high school and older) who face temptation in all sorts of areas. It will be an honest and humble conversation on how, as men, we can faithfully follow Christ and battle against common enemies.

REDEEMING EVE—Finding Christ through Community
(For Women Only—high school & older!)
Led by Sandy Currin, Jenifer Hofmann, Gail Obenour

Room S202 (The old “Parlor” near the Kitchen) at 9:30

Have you ever wondered what the word “redeem” means? It’s defined as “to free from captivity by payment of ransom.” Have you ever wondered what you were redeemed for? Ever wondered if it’s possible to be freed from the consequences of sin in your relationship with God and others? Ever wondered what you are supposed to be doing with your life? If you’ve ever wondered about these questions, come join other women as we investigate what it means to serve a Covenantal God and the biblical context of what it means to be uniquely human, uniquely female, and uniquely YOU.

EXERCISING THE CHRISTIAN MIND
Becoming Salt and Light in a Post-Christian World
Led by Guy Winebrenner
Room N310 (Conference Room) at 9:30

Christians today often fail to engage those around them with the reality of the Gospel message. Often it is because we are unclear of what we believe, why we believe it and what difference our belief makes regarding the myriad issues that we face in our everyday life. In his, now classic, book The Christian Mind, Harry Blamires made the assertion that:
There is no longer a Christian mind. There is still, of course, a Christian ethic, a Christian practice, and a Christian spirituality. As a moral being, the modern Christian subscribes to a code other than that of the non-Christian. As a member of the Church, he undertakes obligations and observations ignored by the non-Christian. As a spiritual being, in prayer and meditation, he strives to cultivate a dimension of life unexplored by the non-Christian. But as a thinking being, the modern Christian has succumbed to secularization.
In this six-week study we will pick up where Blamires left off, investigating what it means in today’s culture to have a mind that has been renewed by the Spirit in order that we might know the good, acceptable and perfect will of God in all aspects of our daily living.

HE SINNED, SHE SINNED, BUT JESUS DIDN’T
A Class on Marriage
Led by Ross Durham
Room L100 (Lower Level Auditorium) at 9:30

And what’s worse is that our sins against our spouse can lead to downward spirals as we respond to one person’s pride with our own rebellion. This class will focus on Biblical, practical and counseling resources to help marriages move ahead. The goal will be to take at least a few positive steps forward as opposed to presenting an idealistic vision.

LIES WE BELIEVE AND HOW TO BATTLE THEM
Led by Richard Alford and Robert Cooke
Room S214 (The Commons) at 9:30

What lies do we commonly believe? Lies taken to heart manifest themselves in struggles with fear, insecurity, lust and materialism – issues that hinder us from “venturing” as we should. In this class, we will seek to glean practical application from biblical “heavy hitters” such as Joseph, Daniel, and Timothy, and in doing so, gain wisdom that furthers us in putting off lies, even as it sharpens our focus on the Truth of God’s Word. This elective does not address singlehood per se, but does encourage Christ-centered community and interdependence within this particular CGS demographic.
